Dear
Saints,
Praise God for the sweet taste of a long awaited
victory. Ten years to be exact. Yes indeed, I have waited ten long years for
what took place last week. Ever since my
first visit to Virginia Tech back in 1985, when Virginia Tech’s Administration
commanded me to stop preaching or be placed under arrest, I have been waiting
for God to open the door. Last week,
under Federal Court order, Virginia Tech was forced to let me preach the
Gospel.
I picked last week because it was the first week back
from spring break and I knew the students would still be hung over from their
drug induced revelry.
And wild it was, one student grabbed and threw my
Bible, later on that same day he grabbed and pulled my arm twice. Another student threw his chocolate ice
cream cone on my back, all the while the "Christians" were out in
mass defending their sinful lifestyle, even to the point of joining hands in a
large circle and singing choruses to drown me out and then "praying"
for me to be shut down. When all of
these tactics did not work, they brought out their boom boxes and blasted me
with "Christian" rock-n-roll.
I gave these hypocrites an Elijah challenge right in
front of the entire crowd. I stated,
“If I am not from God and if God does not want me to continue preaching here
at Virginia Tech the rest of this week then may it rain the rest of this week and wash me
out.” That night it rained cats and
dogs due to severe thunderstorms. By
morning though, the sky was blue and the high temperature that day was around 70
degrees with little humidity. It
was a picture perfect day for outdoor evangelism. When the hypocrites arrived I commented to their
dismay, “My what a beautiful day!” That
night it rained and thundered again but the sky cleared up by the following morning.
Even with all of this opposition Gods' word went out
like a sword piercing one Virginia Tech student’s soul by the name of Doug
Murphey. On the last day Doug laid down
his weapons of rebellion and surrendered his heart to Jesus. AMEN!!!
I put him in contact with a good local holiness
church where I pray that he stays.
We thank you for your love and prayers.
