December 2002
Dear Saints,
Brother Jim, Sister Bonnie, Aaron, Gabrielle and Arielle wish you
and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy, blessed and victorious New Year.
I hope and pray that you are finding the Lord as mighty in battle
as I. Many of you contacted me upon
your hearing the national news accounts that were aired last month on the USA
Radio Network News, SRN Radio News, Agape Press and Charisma Online News
services. Last year, in November of
2001, just one month after I spent five days in jail thanks to the Indiana
University of Pennsylvania, the Lord sent a Christian Civil Rights Attorney
across my path. I had been praying for
twenty years for a legal attack dog.
For the Lord has helped me tremendously in defending myself from the
lies and slander that I endure on a daily basis from Satan’s children. Many of you will recall that God, twice,
used the ACLU to defend me for free and thus paved the way for me to preach on
two separate campuses. I always knew
that if I could have a Civil Rights Attorney to go after these State Officers,
who, under color of law, egregiously trample my constitutionally protected
rights to preach in public places, that we could easily win well over ninety
percent of the cases.
On November 15, 2001, as I was preaching at the University of
North Carolina in Greensboro, N.C., on the second day, and after two and one
half hours of preaching, I felt a tap from behind on my right shoulder. I turned around to see a badge in my face
being held by a Campus Security Officer.
The officer took me aside outside of the crowd and proceeded to tell me
that I had to stop preaching because “students were offended” at my
preaching. I simply responded to him,
“Welcome to America.” He ended up
kicking me off campus and handed me a six-month trespass warning where I could
be arrested on sight if I even stepped foot on their property. I simply turned the matter over to Nate
Kellum who works in conjunction with the Alliance Defense Fund. Nate fired several demand letters to UNCG,
the letters were basically unheeded, until about two weeks after we filed suit
in Federal Court, then UNCG wanted to settle.
We settled last month and I cannot wait to go back and preach at UNCG.
Victory number two emanates from Del Mar College in Corpus
Christi, Texas. I had turned that
campus upside down two years ago and returned last year expecting another great
time. The administration had conspired
as to how to thwart my effectiveness on their campus. Instead of allowing me to preach again in the outside free speech
area, they stuck me inside some thirty-by-thirty room that is connected to a
dead end hallway inside of the Student Center.
Del Mar College also took the position that I could not preach in their
outside free speech area unless I forked out nearly $500.00 per day. I turned the case over to Nate Kellum and
Del Mar College caved in after the first demand letter. I told Matt Bourgault about Del Mar College
when he was in Corpus Christi, Texas last month and he was able to preach in
the outside free speech area for free.
This past October I was privileged to preach in Ohio with Bro.
Rick Bradley. We preached together at
Ohio State University, Miami University of Oxford, Ohio, Xavier University and
the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Special thanks to Brothers Jeff Collins, Brent Moore, Doug Webb,
Doug Able, Maynard Embrey, Marvin Barr, Josh Able, Don Woolett, Kevin Willis,
and Jason who all helped out on several campuses.
We thank you for your love and prayers.
