November 1995
Dear
Saints,
WHO SAID THAT YOU COULD NOT BEAT THE I.R.S.? WHO SAID THAT IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND
EFFORT TO CALL THE BLUFF OF THE ALMIGHTY INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE BECAUSE THEY
HAVE THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO FINANCIALLY RUIN ANYONE THAT THEY WANT?
On November the 4th, by the help of the
Lord, Sister Bonnie and I saved ourselves $14,000 of unmerited, trumped up, bogus
I.R.S. tax debt. The bluff began in
October 1994 when we received our first I.R.S. audit notice for the 1992 tax
year. Although our records were in
order the auditor stuck us with a $5,000 bill.
We received another audit notice for 1993 that resulted in another
$5,000 bill. Smelling money, the I.R.S.
audited us once more for 1994 and tacked on another $4,000. I guess they thought that I would just hand
them over the money and be glad that they did not ask for more. Instead of retreat, I appealed each of the
three audits, sent out affidavits to all of you, did my homework local law libraries, went to the appeals conference
confident that my law and facts was correct and walked out of the appeals conference in less than an hour
with the I.R.S. owing us money due to the fact that I had never, before now,
claimed the earned income credit.
This $14,000 victory could not of been accomplished
without your cooperation in returning the affidavits to me. I extend my deepest thanks.
As of November the 2nd, my suit against
Virginia Tech in the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond,
Virginia is officially under consideration by the Court. The three-judge panel heard oral arguments
on that day. All we can do now is pray.
The Lord has blessed in every way this semester from
preaching on the campuses to preaching in the churches to finances. For this I am thankful.
A female student at Purdue University who spent two
days talking to Sister Bonnie gave the enclosed letter to Sister Bonnie last
month.
We thank you for your love and prayers,
Brother Jim - Sister Bonnie - Aaron - Gabrielle
